How Can I Help YOU to Manage Your FM or Chronic Pain?
Wether you are searching for immediate help to get through a current flare up of FM symptoms or you want to work on relaxing your soft tissues to keep from moving into a flare up, Massage Therapy can help you.
I will customize your session based on how you are feeling the day of your session. This can include heat treatments, light pressure therapeutic touch, trigger point work, deep tissue and/or energy work. Every session is different just like your level of pain and discomfort is different from one moment to the next.
Why Choose an LMT Who Specializes in FM/Chronic Pain Treatment? Just like MD's have specialty areas - LMTs can also specialize. My clients have expressed how comfortable it makes them to have a therapist who not only specializes in the treatment of FM and its symptoms but one who also has lived with the disease and has seen its effects 1st hand.
What makes my sessions unique is not only my 1st hand knowledge and experience working with many FM clients and family members but in that I can even bring your treatments to you in the comfort of your own home. You don't have to undo all of the progress made during the session by rushing up and out the door to fight the weather or the traffic - you can continue to relax and enjoy some much needed relief from the chronic pain and fatigue of your everyday lives.
If I can help answer any of your questions regarding the different types of sessions available to you or massage in general - please don't hesitate to give me a call or drop me an email. I look forward to working with you and becoming an intrical part of your health care team! Together we can make a difference in how FM controls your life. Taking an active role in your treatment puts you back in the drivers seat where YOU make the decisions about your own life and how you will live it!

Offering Fibromyalgia/Chronic Pain Management through Therapeutic Massage and Reiki Energy Work
Fibromyalgia (FM) is a chronic musculoskeletal condition which causes widespread pain throughout the entire body which can include: tension headaches, fatigue, joint stiffness and sleep disorders.
FM can also often mean feelings of aloneness - like the world doesn't understand how you feel. Even your own family can forget that you hurt all the time. Yes, some days can be much better than the others - but the tenderness and the stiffness - the achiness and the lack of getting a good nights sleep - they are always there - always lurking in the shadows waiting to pounce...causing one of "those" days - you know the ones - the days when you can't even force yourself out of bed. Its difficult because those of us with FM look normal. There are not any outward signs of the disease. No one can "see" our muscle pain. We go to our health care providers hoping that we will finally find one that truly gets it. One that can provide some answers along with a bit of compassion.
Recent research has supported the need for FM patients to not only use traditional health care in their treatment plans but to also include some Complementary and Alternative Medicine or CAM regimines as well. One of the most used and beneficial of these CAM modalities is Massage and Bodywork. Benefits of Massage for Fibromyalgia Pain Management
- decrease of inflammation which will help decrease muscle soreness. The pain-causing physical expressions of chronic inflammation consist of mild swelling of the soft tissue, tension in the fascia, pathological hypertonus of muscles, significant decrease in blood supply and calcium depositing in the soft tissue.
- decrease in tension in the skeletal muscles. The more tension that builds in the skeletal muscles, the more tension in the fascia and other soft tissues of the body. This tension causes a decrease in the elasticity of the tissues and it starts to affect the circulation of blood and oxygen throughout the body. Which, in turn, causes even greater stiffness and pain.
- increase in levels of serotonin - a neurotransmitter to the brain which helps mediate basic body functions such as smooth muscle contraction. It is also responsible for our wakeful state and excitement. Patients with clinical depression often show signs of decreased serotonin levels.
- decrease in insomnia, non-REM sleep, restless leg symptoms and IBS symptoms
